I've written about this before, but I believe that this is critical if you want to stay lean and healthy.
Find ways to simplify your life.
Our lives are getting way more complicated and there is no "off button". Everyone seems to always be on and connected. I too am guilty of this. Checking email, scanning Facebook...it never ends.
My challenge for you today is to find 3 things that are preventing you from being at your desired weight or fitness level and to eliminate them.
There are many more, you just have to choose 3 and eliminate them.
The second part of this exercise is to add 1 good thing.
Once again there are many and you just have to add one.
Let me know what you come up with in the comment section below.
Here are my changes...
1. Eliminated checking email, Facebook, etc. to 2x a day. This is way down for me.
2. Streamlined my "to do" list to something very basic (low tech).
3. Finish work by 4p so I can cook dinner and spend time with my family.
Added...
1. Riding my bike for short errands.
P.S. Two of my favorite sites for simplifying life are:
I'm not much of a team sport type of guy. I much more appreciate the one to one battle.
I do love the Olympics though, and I'll probably watch quite a bit of it.
I just found a video of some of the Swiss skiers and what they call their "Torture Chamber".
I love the quote from their coach...

Way to go Rhea of the AM boot camp class. Here she is breezing through the Surf City Half Marathon this weekend.
She even has enough energy to "do the wave" as she runs.

Needless to say the pictures speak for themselves.
Many of you because of your schedules, etc. can't make it to my regular boot camp sessions, so beginning this Saturday Feb 6 I will be offering you a chance to take 1 boot camp session.
For the next three Saturdays I will be offerring a special 45 minute boot camp session at our regular location in Altadena.
The boot camp will begin promptly at 8:00am and go till 8:45am.
The cost for one day is $20. (You may bring check or cash.)
Just bring water, a yoga-like mat, and a large beach towel.
These classes will be held outdoors, rain or shine.
If you haven't trained with me before, you'll need to fill out the pre training medical release forms here before you attend this session.
Recognize some of the exercises in this video? Looks very similar to those we do in boot camp doesn't it?
I like the part when he mentions that he has a family and works 14 hour days, yet still has time for his training.
You can do it to! Make up your mind, and get after it.

Lot's going on with the Super Bowl coming up.
Here's a chance to train with my mentor, Todd Durkin. Todd is one of the best know trainers in the world and he trains many pro athletes. If you win, you'll have a blast training with him.

Hi guys,
Time is passing quickly as we are almost in February.
So have you started on your fat loss goals for 2010? The hardest step is to just get moving. Get the momentum rolling.
As most of you know, I tell it like it is without a lot of hype and prodding.
Having been a trainer now for over 14 years I realize that making real changes in your body doesn't come from being "tricked" into buying something, or betting on a miracle.
I'm in a position now with my boot camps that I tend to be more selective with who I want to attend the camps. When new clients call to join a camp, I almost try to dissuade them from joining. (I know, that's not good for sales, but it does work for lasting fat loss.)
There is a great sense of community now with our campers. I am very proud of how much they support each other.
The morning class comes in dedicated and cranks through the workouts.
The evening class tends to be a little more "social" but they too have a great time, while losing fat.
Speaking of losing fat, the two biggest stories of late are Vanessa in the evening class, who has lost over 30 something pounds, and David of the morning class who has lost an incredible 23 pounds in just 3 weeks.
Neither of them have used any miracle gimmicks, or any crazy diets to get these results. They will tell you that the fat loss has come from consistently training smart and eating sensibly.
I'm almost hesitant to invite you to our upcoming boot camp in Altadena which starts February 1 and runs till February 26. I'd prefer if you have a look around this site, and check out our page on Facebook to see if we are the right fit for you.
If after looking over things you think that you'd like to join our community, then I'd love to help you.

Take a good look at yourself. Are fat loss and excellent health really priorities for you in 2010 and beyond?

Like I mentioned to a few of you last night on Facebook, I am very proud of you all who showed up last night. As I was coming down the hill from my home in Altadena, I really didn't think that it was going to rain.
I had the big hall reserved for us, but decided to chance it.
Well...we got soaked.
As I showed the pictures to my wife and kids last night they said, "wow, look..they are even smiling".
Congratulations guys and gals. You really kicked some butt last night.
I've posted pictures on our Facebook group site, and also on Flickr.
*Please note that I didn't "tag" you by name as I know some people would rather not be tagged. Drop me a line if you don't mind me tagging you in the pictures.
Just saw this post from my colleague, Spencer Cuckney who is hosting a boot camp in Spain.
How awesome is that.

I'm really proud of you all who made it through the rain and came to boot camp this morning.
Kristen, Linda, Dave, Rhea, Rob, Donna, Deb, Mary, Perla, Audrey, and Libby.
You woke up, got out of that warm bed, drove to boot camp, and completed your workout for the day. This habit will stick with you and you will reap the benefits.
By participating this morning you have "learned the secret" to fitness and fat loss. That secret is...that there are no short cuts. It takes commitment, discipline, and just plain hard work.
Way to go morning team, way to go!
P.S. Speaking of way to go... A big shout out to David of the morning camp who has lost....drum roll please...18 pounds in 2 weeks. I'm really proud of you David. You show up every day, on time, and work hard. You deserve it buddy :)
P.S.S. I'll be posting more details on how David has done this in a future post.
Regular training times on Monday Jan 18, Martin Luther King Day.
